From Sea to Shining Sea

We got up at 6 AM and had bacon, eggs and toast before heading to San Onofre Beach. We learned that the World Surfing League championships were on here at San Clemente Beach just north of where we are staying. On “our road” there were cars parked back for miles from the beach because of the competition. We sat on “our” beach with almost all surfers. That was fun to watch. The beach was very rocky. I only went in ankle deep to have a contrast photo with my Atlantic pic from only 19 days ago!!

We walked around a bit, sat, watched and enjoyed the lovely day. Then we drove to the opposite end of the beach and sat on the overlook for a while and watched the surf and the surfers.

We had an early lunch in our car with the air conditioning keeping us cool and then drove to the San Clemente pier. No dogs were allowed, so we took turns walking down the pier and enjoying the lovely ocean. We saw lots of E bikes with side racks for surfboards. There were also a lot of e-cars. I might have gone for a swim except for the hot weather and my itchy, swollen finger from my bee-sting.

We enjoyed San Clemente ice cream, sitting on stools, and observing the local kids around us. We stopped for ice and Baja Fresh fish tacos, which are typical of this area. They were very yummy.

We went back to the campground and took a hot nap, listening to an audiobook. Then we showered both Porsche and ourselves and fixed a ravioli dinner before going to see the sunset. It had been sunny all day, but the sunset was sort of spoiled by clouds. However it was fun to watch the ocean at the overlook of the San Onofre Beach.
