Thursday, 8/17 - 1,942 miles into our trip

Leaving Val d’Or, Quebec, we were happy to be driving in the wilderness again. We headed into “Reserve Faunique la Verendrye” and felt like we were driving in Canada as “green dream.“ The woods are now thicker again and a deep green color. The roads had gentle curves and undulating hills. There was very little traffic and lovely sunshine with cirrus clouds patchy above us. 75° and a gentle breeze with beautiful lakes, we thought, “How could this get any better?” We drove 127 km without seeing a single gas station. There were only three small towns in a distance of 228 km! This trans-Canada drive is proving to add an unexpected depth to our experience. We would love to come back and spend more time in our Miata convertible along here!

As we got further along in Quebec, we saw a number of impressive ski hills. We had a lovely stop for a coffee latte and an almond croissant in a beautiful setting. The scenery was fantastic until the Montreal area, where we suddenly hit very heavy traffic. We had another lovely hotel on the northern edge of Quebec City and we walked Porsche along a nice boardwalk along Riviere Des Mille.
