We enjoyed eggs and Smokies and coffee by the fire side. Then we packed up our campsite during a light rainfall and drove back to Schoodic Point and Blueberry Hill for a photo of me with my foot in the Atlantic Ocean. In a couple of weeks I hope to put my other foot in the Pacific!
Only some of the highways are marked “scenic,“ but all of them are stunningly beautiful! We drove on mostly secondary roads after Augusta. The western half of the state of Maine is hilly with small towns, lakes, rivers, hills, and now, more deciduous trees. The leaves here are already starting to turn red!
We crossed into New Hampshire and didn’t eat lunch until we arrived at our next campground, Moose Brook State Park. The campsite people there were very nice and our campsite was lovely in the woods. We set up camp and then hiked along Moose Brook. The deep woods were beautiful and very green.
There was a brook babbling right alongside our campsite. The water is crystal clear. We were hot and sweaty, but the campground had coin operated showers, which were a delight! We had a nice campfire in the evening and cooked hotdogs and perfect toasted marshmallows to top off a perfect day.
(Family secret: Woody does not like marshmallows, but he loves toasting them for me!)
