I got up ataround 4 AM with my throat hurting at Lake Wappapello State Park. I fixed myself some coffee and got our fire restarted. I had my daily devotions by the fire ring, savoring my coffee. Woody got up about 6 and fixed us eggs and bacon. We took the tent fly down to dry and then took a lovely 30 minute walk before packing up camp. The lake was so peaceful and quiet and calm.

I met a woman who was camping there with her husband. They were camp hosts at another Missouri state park for 12 years and have traveled to every state and province. She especially loved Alaska, Maine, and Nova Scotia. I wonder if I will ever get to Alaska or Nova Scotia!

We enjoyed the beautiful, four-lane highway along mostly wooded sections with occasional small towns. On the smaller roads, there were roller coaster hills which were fun until I got really nauseated. Despite taking Zofran, I only got worse and was miserable with car sickness. Woody was very gracious with me. The scenery was gorgeous, but I couldn’t appreciate it.

We arrived at my brother Vito and his wife Kat’s home near Eureka Springs before 6 PM. I went straight to bed. Woody, Vito, and Kat ate a wonderful rib dinner which Vito had prepared. However, I couldn’t tolerate more than a couple of sips of iced tea. The others stayed up talking and watching the blue super moonrise.

It was hard to lose this opportunity to visit with my "little" brother, but I am thankful I had a real bed to sleep in and kind hosts to care for me.
