Though it was a pleasant 68°, it was a dismal, damp morning to return home. Porsche has learned to sleep with her head on the armrest, which is her typical position for traveling now.

In western Minnesota, the highway was labeled “scenic.” After the scenic highways we have been on, the straight highway, flat cornfields, cattle, power lines, wind generators, and occasional yellow and green trees seemed a little short of “scenic.“

We stopped in Worthington, the town I was born in, to see my old elementary school. It’s all boarded up now, which was sad to see! Then we went to see the house I lived on on Lake Okabena. It is for sale and vacant. I was shocked that they are asking $295,000 for it. They have made many changes over the years - some good and some bad.

We decided to go to Caribou to get coffee, but waited a long time in line for Woody’s iced drink and my hot coffee. His iced Frappuccino was lukewarm as well as my coffee. They were out of muffins, so I tried a cake-pop. I will never try one again!

We stopped at Aldi for bare-bones groceries. It was absolutely beautiful dipping into the Root River valley again with the fall colors at their prime. It’s easier to end our trip at such a beautiful place.

We thank God for a wonderful, safe, epic journey!!

(We plan to do a "reflective recap" when we both have enough energy to be reflective!)

Thanks for posting the end of your trip. I loved ready about all your adventures. Having said that I couldn’t have done what you two and the dog did. My traveling days are very limited and I don’t like camping. I am glad you both do.
